The back drop is always different. Post apocalyptic haven, anarchist squatters, co-op, co-habitat experiment, and an urban, Bio-sphere.
It all begins in an abandon school. Class rooms become living quarters and work rooms. There’s a cafeteria and industrial kitchen for communal meals and food preserves, bread baking and maybe cheese making. The school had a large, central yard that was transformed into a garden with an aquaponics set up, fruit trees, and hammocks. Chickens, sheep, and possibly goats roam the soccer field that is now, wild pasture.
In the space a usual, Elementary school takes. Fields are turned to agricultural land. Cisterns, solar, and grey water systems are put in. The goal was a closed, sustainable system. Like a massive, earthship.
I’ve seen a few, closed schools in my city. I’d love to be part of changing one into a place for people who want to live in an experimental community. Artists, gardeners, bakers, beer makers, herbalists, carpenters.. Anyone willing to break the dominant paradigm and create something better.
I need help to get this going. The dreams are almost every night. Sadly, many of the dreams have a threat of a possible siege. Like we have to protect our food and water from violent looters. But there are the ones where the community sells organic produce, honey, eggs, fish, cheese and hosts some beautiful, parties.
I’m all for organic food and hippy, dance parties.
